We are bombarded with opinions that housing starts determine how healthy our economy is. Supposedly this determines how successful communities are too .... right? In other words, in our local communities, it is a good thing that we use up all of the available lands to build new homes on because this is good for our economic strength..... right?
Studies are now being done which show the very opposite is proving true. Every home built actually costs the taxpayers more money. Why? Because for every tax dollar paid by new home owners, up to 50 percent more needs to be given back in services such as Fire, Police, Ambulance service, and Schooling for their children. Besides this, there is the added impact of more traffic, longer lines, more use of our infrastructure and more destruction of wildlife habitat.
Indeed, for every home built making a profit for developers, the taxpayers are forced to take up the extra burden of provided services, paying more taxes for these, and must live in a more crowded community. I am pointing these facts out so that the next time people tell you we must cater to the building contractors, you will understand that perhaps this isn't something we need or should do. You might also consider if these are important facts our Town Council should be aware of. How many town councilmen do you think are aware of this?

SAVING OUR CHILDREN'S FUTURE
If you have a child with cancer, you will do whatever you can to save that child.
The human race is speeding at 100 miles per hour off a cliff. If we as adults pretend that the problems facing our children do not exist, what message are our children getting from us loudly and clearly?
We need to act... and we need to act now. This is easier than most persons realize. However you must motivate yourselves every week... along with a few neighbors or relatives ... to learn what is going on and then act. Face these realities, remove our fears of them, and together we CAN set this world up for a wonderful, clean and safe future for generations to come. Follow with consistent manner the simple plan promoted in this "refrigerator list" movement. Through regaining our democratic process, we will conquer not only Global Warming, but we will have also learned a new process that brings our nation back its town voice.
For most US children, thousands of dollars are spent educating, clothing, teaching them cherished values, and vast time raising them. Why not spend a few moments of time each week ...at your leisure... protecting your investment...to see how with little effort you can indeed ensure the blossoming of their future?
We must all commit ourselves very very seriously to this effort. Amazingly, this will not take very much time out of your week, and we must use this time as a united front.
Let's gain energy independence from foreign countries. We have seen the experiment in the last 40 years of pouring trillions out of our country and enriching hostile nations.. It doesn't serve us in any way and kills our children by inflaming wars and empowering people who wish to destroy us.
Take this seriously, drop our political lines and petty quarrels and unite together as a nation of patriotic citizens. We all want the same thing.... peace and happiness for our children.
